Community Service

  • (Year 1) Salkehatchie Summer Service: Known for its various camps throughout South Carolina. These camps typically involve youth and adult volunteers coming together for a week of service, community building, and personal growth. My first year involved I was focused on helping an elderly African-American woman, and my group of 8 cleared out all of the trash inside of her house. We also fixed and replaced her floorboards, and dug up and replaced all of her underground electric wires. Later into the service we would pressure wash her trailer, and in the end build a brand new deck which included a wheelchair ramp.
  • (Year 2) Salkehatchie Summer Service: Similar to the year before, this camp was focused on rebuilding and repairing a house in an impoverished community for an elderly African-American woman. This year, my group spent the first three days removing a large cockroach infestation, repainting the inside of the house, and replacing rotting floorboards. The next four days would be spent pressure-washing, replacing roof tiles, and helping a separate group remove another large cockroach infestation.
  • 2023 Santa Run 5K & Rudolph Youth Fun Run: Assisted in handing out fruits and water to youth and parents, aiding in their completion of a Christmas time 5K.
  • Meals on wheels: Drove around giving out food to families in need.
  • Spring Valley Youth Soccer Camp: Summer-long soccer camp during which I worked as a volunteer counselor for youth aged 5 to 12 enrolled in a free training camp. I worked as a counselor in this camp for around 4-6 hours a day for two summers.
