Activities

  • One Activity I am extremely passionate about is Field Hockey. I love to play and train. All growing up I looked up to my mom for playing an amazing sport in college and remaining able to pursue a degree and that is something I would like to continue. There is nothing quite like stepping on the field and feeling the rush of adrenaline to go and play and get to do your best while the rest of the world gets to watch you enjoy every moment.
  • One Activity I am very passionate about is nursing. I truly enjoy being surrounded by children as a profession as well as in my free time. My mother owns a preschool, so I have always worked with and been surrounded by children. Then in 2010, my youngest sister, Ellie, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of four. That was my first experience with what being a nurse and medical caregiver entails. Type 1 is a manageable disease if you have the knowledge-base to treat and care for it. At the age of 13, I took my first trip to The Joslyn Diabetic Center in Boston, MA with my sister. While there, I learned all of comports of caring for and being able to support her through her journey back to health. Ellie began to use an insulin pump at the age of seven. This injects insulin continuously into her body to allow her to simply be a kid and play sports. Through Ellie’s disease, it has become clear to me that I have to desire and skillset to work with children to help restore them to health. This is why I feel called to study sciences and ultimately nursing.
