Assistant Hatchery Manager

  • I am currently the Assistant Hatchery Manager and company safety officer for Armin F Koernig salmon hatchery on Evans Island, Alaska
  • Daily duties include morning safety briefings, hatchery operational rounds, fiscal year budget management and ordering fulfillment
  • I also serve as a liaison between seasonal and full time employees and the human resources corporate office in Cordova, Alaska
  • As Assistant Manager I am responsible for keeping all hatchery employees, both full time and seasonal, up to date with facilitated safety trainings(power point presentations), and online training schedules with all employees
  • Trainings include but are not limited to, fatigue management, power tool operation, hearing conservation, JSA (Job Safety Analysis) and Hazard recognition, ergonomics and kinesthetics, Hazwopr, Basic electrical safety and tsunami and earthquake evacuation procedures
  • I also provide training to full time and seasonal employees in the areas of fish culture, water sampling, feeding techniques, out migration, yearly harvest operations and plankton sampling.
