Research Assistant
The N'Gouemo Lab W/ Dr. Prosper N'Gouemo
Howard University, Washington DC
09.2025 - Current
Quickly adapted to handling Genetically Epilepsy Prone Rat (GEPR): immobilization, intraperitoneal injection, gavage, euthanization.
Independently execute screening of epileptic seizures in GEPR model and retesting post-administration of drugs, maintaining lab notebook for analysis purposes.
Observe surgical operations and tissue collection with goal of independent sample collection.
Research Assistant
TheASHLab W/ Dr.Ames Sutton-Hickey
Temple University, Philadelphia, PA
06.2025 - Current
Explored the CTA paradigm in mice and designed a novel study to further examine the neural mechanisms of food preference, especially relating to ARFID.
Collaborated with lab mentor to further research methodology of data collection and analysis.
Quickly adapted to animal research, learning mouse handling technique with home cage tasks.
Independently sliced, stained, and mounted mouse brains to microscopy slides in preparation for fluorescent and contrast microscopy.
Independently completed extensive microscopic imaging and notetaking to further investigation of general neural activity throughout all regions of the mouse brain in relation to CTA.
As first author, produced and presented research poster, Analyzing & Quantifying Animal Feeding Behaviors Within the Mouse Model of Conditioned Taste Aversion, at Temple University Annual Retreat 2025 and Society for Neuroscience (SfN) 2025.
Actively engage in regular meetings with fellow researchers to discuss project updates, challenges faced, and lessons learned during ongoing activities.
Virtually upkeep data collection and analysis, also fine tuning machine learning protocol and use of PACER App, made by Dr. Sutton-Hickey.
Student Researcher
HHMI SEA–PHAGES W/ Dr.Mary Ayuk
Howard University, Washington DC
08.2024 - 05.2025
Independently collected, isolated, amplified, and extracted bacteriophage DNA.
Completed a whole genome annotation of newly encountered bacteriophage DNA, contributing to knowledge of host Mycobacterium smegmatis mc²155, a bacterial strain related to bacteria that cause tuberculosis, leprosy, and other related diseases.
Collaborated with classmates to develop research goals, working together to produce reliable experimental data and peer-reviewing annotations.
Utilized widely established bioinformatics tools: GeneMark, BLAST, ARAGORN, Starterator, HHPred, PECAAN, and others.
Maintained accurate records of experiments and results for future reference.
Produced and presented abstract and research poster for Howard University Research Month and 2025 SEA Virtual Symposium — Discovery and Genomic Characterization of Phages Blessjoy and Temprado.
Franciscan Health Hospital & Advance Psychiatry and Counseling
Olympia Fields, IL
Had opportunities to shadow medical professionals across many specialties in Ortho, Cancer, Stress Lab, Radiology, Rehab, and Family Birth and to conduct a GPCOG screening for Dementia with a patient 1-on-1.
