I am a primary care paramedic in a rural area. A standard transport will typically take about thirty minutes to reach the closest emergency room. For a level I trauma center or a cardiac catheterization lab, the transport times reach 90 minutes. I work in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. During the warm weather, many of my patients are hikers or mountain bikers. During the cold weather, my patients tend to be skiers, snowboarders, and other outdoor enthusiasts. As the area is a tourist destination, I deal with patients of all ages. Some of my patients require technical rescues. These include some high-angle rope work off Cathedral Ledge and carry-outs off one of the many 4,000-foot mountains in the coverage area. Some of these rescues will include calling in a helicopter for extraction. I am familiar with working with DHART, Lifeflight of Maine, and the National Guard. As a critical care paramedic, my resource hospital has been asking me to support transfers of critical care patients to more advanced facilities.
I worked on the volunteer EMS service in the city of New Bedford. I served as an EMT on an ambulance that assisted the City for special events. Examples include parades, concerts, and other large gatherings.

PHTLS - Prehospital Trauma Life Support
I am always looking to expand my knowledge. I work in a rural area and it takes a long time to get a patient to definitive care. I look for any advantage to care for my patients. Having worked with several flight paramedics, they suggested I look into flight paramedicine. Having this level of training, I have been able to help my local resource hospitals with critical patients.
