As a powerline mechanic I would become capable to build and fix the power lines that bring electricity to homes and businesses. I will climb poles or use bucket trucks to reach the wires, and sometimes work underground where cables are buried. My job is to make sure the power stays on and works efficiently under any circumstances or weather conditions
I will learn how to install new wires, replace broken parts, and check equipment to keep everything safe. When storms or accidents knock the power out, I will go out—often in bad weather—to find the problem and repair it. I will have to follow strict safety rules because I'd be working around high-voltage electricity.
Powerline mechanics also read maps and basic blueprints so they know where the lines go and how everything connects. I will adapt to my work as a team member and use my skills to get the job done.
