
As a Facilities Utility Specialist eemployee you will work in a fast-paced Facilities Maintenance Operations department. The Facilities Utility Specialist plays a very important role in providing quality service to our internal customers. The Facilities Utility Specialist pperforms work in accordance with guidelines established in the collective bargaining agreement.
Identifying and checking tools, test equipment and certain commodities in and out of the warehouse, as well as the service, cleaning, inventory storage and accounting of tools, test equipment and commodities used in the daily operation
Performing routine maintenance tasks of a general nature, such as servicing, cleaning and transporting equipment as well as cutting, sizing, and forming materials
Assisting in the operation of the airline baggage system including and not limited to monitoring, managing and clearing of baggage related jams and operational support of the baggage handling systems
Surface treatment of facility component parts with chemicals and sandblasting equipment
General shop and housekeeping responsibilities as related to storage, break, and work area cleanliness
Supporting the department through the transportation, inventory and accounting of parts and components needed to complete tasks
Maintains property rentals by advertising and filling vacancies; negotiating and enforcing leases; maintaining and securing premises.Maintains property by investigating and resolving tenant complaints; enforcing rules of occupancy; inspecting vacant units and completing repairs; planning renovations; contracting with landscaping and snow removal services
Maintains building systems by contracting for maintenance services; supervising repairs.
- Performs inspection, testing and maintenance in accordance with 49CFR regulations and Amtrak standards and guidelines
- Troubleshoots equipment to determine corrective actions and causes of equipment failures
- Repairs doors, windows, interior equipment, access panels, hand brakes, brake shoes, outside car body components, fire extinguishers, emergency tools and first aid kits.
- Uses a variety of test equipment to diagnose malfunctions, troubleshoot and repair components and circuits
- Maintains proper care and use of materials, test equipment, machines and hand tools normally associated with assigned job
- May perform welding and burning
Perform cleaning assignments for train cars in accordance with FDA and Amtrak standards and guidelines
- Drain and flush waste tanks
- Vacuum, mop, dust, sweep, wash walls and windows
- Uses chemical cleaners, equipment and material in accordance with regulatory agencies and HAZCOM guidelines and procedures
- Maintains proper care and use of materials, equipment, machines and hand tools normally associated with assigned job
elite forest firefighters, referred to as 'smoke jumpers,' parachute from helicopters or airplanes to suppress fires in otherwise inaccessible areas. Some of the other duties involved in wildland firefighting include:
-remove falling trees
-Conducting backfire and burnout operations
-Operating water and chemical hoses and pumps
-Analyzing fire weather and topographical data
-Constructing landing spots for fire suppression helicopters
-Predicting fire behavior
