Work History

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Motorola Solutions
01.2020 - Current
  • The latest generation of PTZ Dome cameras: Created architecture and led mechanical design for Pelco and Avigilon brands. Managed technical, design, prototyping, and testing activities of 4 mechanical engineers. Developed test plans, supervised prototype and final product testing, and compiled test reports. Supported and trained the manufacturing team during launching the product to production.
  • Multi-head PTZ IR camera: Responsible for specifying, designing, and testing the direct drive motor system for the PTZ module of the camera.
  • Dual Head PTZ IR camera system: Defined the direct drive architecture capable of operating in high-wind environments. Developed the detailed design of the pan and tilt system and IR illumination module.
  • Cooperated with ID, electronic, PCB, software, manufacturing, and product support engineers to ensure products meet thermal, EMC, and DFMA requirements, and address customer expectations.

Mechanical Engineer

Pelco by Schneider-Electric
01.2007 - 01.2020
  • PTZ Dome cameras: Led the upgrade of mechanical design to transition from analogue to digital high definition systems. The upgrade included enhanced thermal management, improved mechanical stability of the camera, and increased impact resistance of the optical dome without compromising video quality.
  • Explosion-proof IR PTZ camera: Responsible for the design of the pan and tilt modules with direct drive and closed-loop positioning systems. Performed thermal analysis of the entire system, including the IR module, and conducted thermal, vibration, and wind load testing. Facilitated the testing of the product by UL to obtain necessary certifications.
  • Direct drive Dome PTZ and IR Lookup PTZ: Cooperated with a motor supplier to specify direct drive motor systems for these products. Supervised and led the mechanical design teams of Pelco’s JDM partners working remotely and on-site overseas.
  • Served as the company's thermal analysis expert, conducting thermal and flow analysis for all projects in Pelco’s Product Development department.
  • Advised the product sustaining group and assisted the SMR team in conducting tests for special products.

Mechanical Engineer

Pelco
01.2003 - 01.2007
  • Member of Mechanical design team for CMOS-based WDR box camera (SIMD) and Camclosure product line. Created part and assembly drawings, test plans and BOMs for these products
  • PTZ Dome camera with embedded encoder to convert video stream from analogue to digital: Mechanical and thermal management design of the encoder housing
  • Thermal Imaging PTZ and fixed cameras (1st Generation of Sarix TI Series): Conducted thermal analysis for the thermal imaging camera and implemented TEC for cooling the thermal imaging module.

Associate Mechanical Engineer

Pelco
01.2000 - 01.2003
  • Pan positioning device (Scanner): Created detailed design of the product from existing concept, and designed gear drive system. Conducted environmental testing for the prototype and final product.
  • Camclosure for indoor use (all-plastic, low-cost): Complete mechanical design from concept to detailed drawings. Conducted all testing and brought the product from prototype to production.
  • Completed numerous ECOs, cost-saving projects, and SMRs, which improved the quality and manufacturability of Pelco products, and addressed customer complaints and special requests.
