Alexia Fernandes

• Provided free dental care services (restorations, extractions, cleanings) to citizens of Grenada.
• Was part of a group of ~40 dental providers that treated 675 patients in 5 days.

• Assisted staff with sterilization of instruments during busy hours.

• Conducted and analyzed kinase activity assays and purified the enzyme DGKε.
• Designed research and experimental studies and executed research techniques, tests and assays.

• Volunteered in Post-Operative Day Surgery, assisting nurses with patient care. Additionally, I welcomed new patients and informed them about the hospital services as a patient liaison.

• Assisted and supported mental health patients. Volunteered in both the thrift store and library available to patients at the West 5th campus.

• Volunteered for the Learning and Fun (LAF) afterschool program. Worked with at-risk youth, in the Hamilton area, from grades 1-8 by facilitating interactive learning activities.
