Aspirin Synthesis
- Carried out the synthesis of acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) from salicylic acid and acetic anhydride in the presence of sulfuric acid as a catalyst.
- Purified the aspirin using the recrystallization technique, dissolving aspirin in a mixture of ethanol and water.
- Verified the identity and purity of the aspirin by determining its melting point using a Mel Temp apparatus.
Biosynthesis of Ethanol
- Conducted an experiment to produce ethanol by fermenting sucrose using yeast.
- Used fractional distillation techniques to purify the ethanol obtained.
- Evaluated the concentration of ethanol in the distillate through density measurements.
Soap Preparation
- Carried out the synthesis of soap from vegetable fats using the saponification reaction.
- Purified the synthesized soap and evaluated its effectiveness through foaming and hard water reaction tests.
