I am an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner with 8 years of experience as a practitioner. My background consists of 2 years of Emergency Medicine, where I cared for a range of age groups from pediatrics to geriatrics, as well as participated in codes, central line placements, suturing, and procedures such as incision and drainage, and lumbar punctures. From the ER I then went to work for Coastal Health starting in Family medicine, where myself and another practitioner primarily run a busy clinic independently. These patients varied from pediatrics to geriatrics transitioning into the end of life. Our clinic managed a large amount of hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, vascular disease, CAD, history of stroke, long-term illnesses, and procedures such as mole removals, laceration repairs, and abscess drainage.
From Family medicine I then transferred division within my company to interventional spine and pain where I am currently employed. In this position I see adult patients who have cervical, thoracic and lumbar pain or pathologies which require management via interventional treatment or surgical referral. I also review advanced imaging and help to decide their plan of care along with medication management from non-opioid regimen to strictly monitored opiate regimens. I take an active role in educating patients on the benefits of the advanced procedures we offer such as minimally invasive lumbar decompression, spinal cord stimulation, kyphoplasty, SI fusion devices, epidural injections, ablations and peripheral nerve stimulation, which may improve their quality of life and lessen their pain.
