DECA is an organization that prepares students for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management through competitive events and leadership development opportunities. As a DECA participant, I worked with a partner on a roleplay event focused on hotel management at the regional level. We presented our ideas to a judge, which involved creating strategies to enhance hotel operations. At the state level, our challenge shifted to improving employee experience at the SEAL Lab, a real-world lab at the University of Washington specializing in sensors, energy, and automation.
For this advanced project, we conducted an in-depth interview with the lab manager and surveyed the entire team of 100 employees. Our research identified key issues affecting employee satisfaction. We developed a strategic plan to address these concerns and elevate the overall work environment. Our comprehensive proposal was then presented to a judge, showcasing our findings and recommendations.
