Teacher of the Year

I was honored to receive a Teacher of the Year award in recognition of my work as a Reading Specialist for students in grades Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. During my time in this role, the school experienced a significant increase in student achievement scores and parent involvement. I implemented monthly "Breakfast With Books" events, where parents joined their children at school to read together and build stronger connections with the learning process. I also partnered with a local nursing home, organizing after-school visits where students read with residents—an initiative supported by parents who provided transportation and often participated themselves. Beyond the classroom, I make it a priority to attend extracurricular activities such as sporting events, school plays, and choir concerts when invited by students. This allows me to support and encourage them in all aspects of their development. This award reflected my commitment to literacy, family engagement, community outreach, and building lasting, meaningful relationships with students.
