Bio
I have been a registered nurse for almost 10 years. I started off on a general medical/surgical unit where I created a strong foundation. After 3 years I felt I was ready to increase and expand my nursing skills to more than what I could accomplish at the bedside, so my Director promoted me to the Clinical Lead position in my unit. I worked under this role for another year when I then transitioned to our sister hospital to take the next step in my career, working in the ED. Learning the trauma aspects and triage aspects of the ED were the most interesting to me. I enjoyed the fast paced environment and the close relationships developed among staff and doctors to create a cohesive team. I also began floating to our transfer center where I learned about the process of transferring patients internally and externally into the health system, it was here that I was approached about becoming one of the Clinical Expeditors (bed manager). In this role I have since learned to manage the bed boards of 5 hospitals, worked with our transfer center to facilitate patient transfers into our health system from around the Pacific Northwest, and collaborated with various Hospital Supervisors and Charge Nurses to optimize bed utilization and correct patient placement.
