• Assessed mother by taking vitals, rating pain, monitoring lochia amount, and fundal exams
• Assessed baby by listening to heart and lungs, checking for stool and urine, taking blood cultures for further testing, and taking vital signs
• Created care plans for both mom and baby and gave mother education on nursing interventions
• Administered as needed oral and IV medications to mom and baby and explained the reasoning for them
