Self Taught artist in glass sculpturing and avid painter

I started learning these two crafts at age 17.  There were no books available except for laboratory apparatus glass blowing techniques.  I ordered and paid for equipment and supplies from selling Shaklee products door to door and repairing sewing machines in my parents store from age 14 until age 17.  I practiced both the art of glass and making canvas art paintings until I mastered both.  I then became self employed.   I worked as a glass artist until 1987 when I then started a residential house cleaning business until 2004.  I actually became a licensed independent insurance agent in 2004 until the present, however this online resume builder would only go back to 2019.

My first love was the glass art craft which is actually known as lampworking as its technical term.  But most people are unaware of this terminology.  I first saw an artist doing this at age nine and I knew that I wanted to do this. I taught several people this craft, however, I am self taught.  I  can make many artful and unusual sculptures out of both lead or Pyrex glass rods.  I set up and owned several glass-art shops under the name of Classical Glass in Iowa until 1987.  

In case you are wondering why I quit the lampworking business and started a house cleaning business; the answer is that my Father was terminally ill and I had to have work that I could drop at a moment's notice and go care for him.  After he passed away, I only did it as a hobby.  It is still my first love as art.  Being a painter comes second.
