I value each individual's unique background, with a strong desire to advocate for them and what they may need assistance in connecting with. I enjoy being able to get to know each individual and watch them grown and develop new skills to help them maintain or advance current skills they have. I enjoy learning and am excited to grow in my career and advance my knowledge to assist individuals in their daily lives.
As a Behavioral Health Coach, I meet with individuals in mental health crisis and implement a short term, solution focused therapy. We focus on identifying needs and problem solving. I collaborate with the individuals primary care provider and offer support in psychiatric ,educations with the assistance of our treatment team. I assist the patient in connecting to long term care as well.
At the front desk of a private practice primary care medical office, I checked patients in and out for appointments, scheduled appointments and relayed information regarding their health. This office was faith based and we had the opportunity to include the individuals faith and beliefs in their health care.
I started with Nightlight Christian Adoptions, formally known as MLJ Adoptions, as an intern for my undergraduate social work program. I assisted in record keeping and attending and completing home studies. Upon graduation, I was offered a home study provider position where I traveled across the state to meet with families and complete home studies to start or continue the international adoption process.
I completed my internship for my graduate program with IU Health North hospital where I met with patients in NICU, Peds/PICU, Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and pediatric oncology. I assisted in providing assistance with community needs and mental health needs. I also collaborated with the medical staff that were part of the patient and family's care team.
