In my 18 years of retail management in Hawaii, my greatest talent and focus was working with people. I especially developed a keen understanding of post-colonization economics and it's impact on Native Hawaiian. During this time my store teams joined me for regular workdays with Habitat for Humanity building homes for Hawaiian families on the homestead lands in Kula, Maui, as well as regular toy and clothing drives, and shelter upkeep for Women Helping Women, Maui.
My values of service, philanthropy, and work that benefits the community and our planet eventually led me to my work in education, teacher recruiting, and now to the modern study of psychology, in particular, marriage and family therapy. Looking for new work opportunities after recent lay-offs at the Waldorf Institute led me to the discovery of Project Kaulike which seems to be a perfect match of my skills, availability, and passion.
In my leisure these things bring me joy.
