Academic Projects

  • Human Papillomavirus in the Mexican American Community, University of Houston, 05/2022. The mission I had when creating my project was to connect towards the minority population in the community of Harris County, but also educate them on the necessary benefits of learning about HPV. Researching peer reviewed articles, collecting data, to finally creating a research paper with a PowerPoint slide with both Spanish and English translations, it allowed me to compile the necessary data to present the needs on why HPV should be a relevant topic. I learned to further gather credible information to provide to the community, but also see the different perspectives to help understand the reasons why Mexican American women neglect their own personal health.
  • Mask Wearing in our Community, University of Houston, 12/2021. Our goal in our project was to gather information from our community by creating questionnaires/excel spreadsheets. The intent was to learn from our community the reasons in which our participants would wear a mask during the continuation of the COVID-19 pandemic. It further allowed us to work on our communication skills with participants, but also distance our own opinions to not affect the results we had gathered.
