Dr. Garrett-Mills was born and raised in the Denver Metro area and has worked at Aurora Mental Health & Recovery in administrative and direct care roles for the last eleven years. She attended George Washington High School in Denver and Oberlin College in Ohio. Dr. Garrett-Mills graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed a psychiatric residency at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She has been practicing psychiatry locally for over 20 years. Her special interests include working with diverse populations, adult patients with developmental delays, and those with complex medical, psychiatric, and addiction issues. Throughout her career, she has worked as a psychiatrist in specialty clinics serving monolingual Spanish speakers, refugees, homeless adolescents, African immigrants, the Asian Pacific Development Center, and other programs designed to address the mental health needs of traditionally underserved patients. Dr. Garrett-Mills has also been involved in serving on community boards and providing pro-bono education and presentations on mental health for various community organizations. Before joining Aurora Mental Health & Recovery, she worked as a psychiatrist at the Colorado Mental Health Institute at Fort Logan and the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless in both clinical and administrative roles. In her free time, Dr. Garrett-Mills enjoys hiking, reading, and promoting STEM education. She volunteers in the metro area by organizing supplemental education programs, developing curricula for STEM programs, and running a local science camp for middle school students.
My interests include social justice, education, history, reading, hiking and travel.
