Reads several styles of water meters in an assigned area, in varied neighborhoods including residential, commercial and industrial areas and terrains, and in all weather conditions.
2. Records meter readings.
3. Compares the current reading with prior readings to determine accuracy and appropriateness of reading.
4. Determines if there is readily apparent cause and reports the reason for unusual conditions where consumption seems out of line with seasonal demand and rate of previous consumption.
5. Checks for inoperative, defaced, or bypassed meters and for street, house, or meter number changes.
6. Completes forms to alert the customer as a courtesy, when consumption is unusually high; initiates field orders to repair damaged meters or to report street leaks or unsafe conditions for which EBMUD is responsible.
7. Answers questions regarding meter reading, customer billing, or consumption; refers the customer to the proper EBMUD unit if additional information is requested.
8. Repairs, replaces, and tests water meters 1" in size and smaller in field including automatic reading meters and related equipment.
9. May assist meter mechanics with the repair and replacement of meters over 1" in size.
10. Performs meter maintenance functions to improve meter readability.
11. Cleans, sets, and replaces meter boxes and lids.
12. Observes proper safety precautions and maintains tools, supplies, equipment and maintains the work site in a safe condition; cleans up area after the job is completed.
13. Keeps records of meter repairs and replacements that are completed, in progress and planned.
14. Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required

• Use skills to provide solutions to sewer and drain problems
• Diagnosing problems then providing cost estimates to close the sale
• Unclog and clean sewers and drains for the customers using Roto-Rooter equipment and tools
• Document estimates and invoices, both in writing and on provided smartphone
• Collect payment and move on to the next service call

• Prepares film, ink and cylinders for each job
• Operates printing press machines
• Maintains a clean and organized work space
• Works rotating 12 hour shifts
