The potential of Galectin-1 as a viable target to inhibit Covid-19 replication, September 2021 – Present Day, M.S Thesis, Protein-Protein Interactions (Human – Sars-Cov-2) with potential for Host- Pathogen interaction research following results. The research is based around examining the interaction between NSP-10 (non-structural protein #10) of Sars-Cov-2 and human proteins using a 2-Hybrid System. The purpose of the project is to locate significant interactions that could potentially be used for drug discovery or to disrupt the viral replication of Sars-Cov-2., PCR, Gel Electrophoresis, Spectrophotometry, Western Blot, DNA & Plasmid Extractions, Bacterial and Yeast Transformations, Immuno-Assays, Autoclave, Centrifuge, Spectrophotometer
Discovering the Microbiome of the Asian Long-horned tick Haemaphysalis longicornis, January 2018 – September 2021, The Asian long-horned tick is not indigenous to the United States but was identified in 2017 in various states which symbolized separate infestations. The importance of this tick is its parthenogenetic nature allowing for massive infestations. In their native regions they are responsible for various diseases in both animals and humans but extensive studies on this tick and its abilities to cause disease within the United States were limited. The purpose of this study was to complete a full microbiome for Haemaphysalis longicormis by compiling and creating a library from microbiome studies done from its native regions., Making selective media, colony counting and identification, PCR, tick dissections
