I want to become a nurse because my grandmother, aunt, and uncle grew up poor in the rural south and pursued the medical field to help people and provide a better life for their families. As a result of their devoted efforts to the well-being of others, their influence has significantly impacted my life in a way that has made me want to pursue nursing. Nursing is an exciting and fast-paced profession, which will allow me to make a difference in people’s lives, most importantly. I want to serve and assist people through some of their most valuable moments. Not only do they play the role of caretaker for their patients, but in some circumstances, they can also be a friend, confidant, and a trusted adviser. It takes a special kind of person to fill these roles the way nurses do. Ever since I was a young girl, my empathetic heart took over when I saw a friend crying; I was always the first to comfort them. If I saw a person with low self-esteem, I would befriend them and always point out the beauty in their natural self and try to let them see it for themselves. I became a CNA during my junior year of high school. I created so many lovely memories with the residents I have met and my coworkers. Being a CNA helped me see life from a different point of view at the nursing home. Being a nurse is a privilege. It is an honor to be able to do something so meaningful and fulfilling. Nurses see miracles happen every day and get to see people when they are at their most vulnerable. Nursing is a job that makes a difference. Nurses do more than just treating the wounded; they care about the lives of their patients and are incredibly dedicated to the overall quality of life.
