
A Direct Support Professional (DSP) works with behavioral and mentally challenged residents and is responsible for providing compassionate care and support to individuals with intellectual, developmental, and behavioral disabilities. They assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication management, and community participation, while encouraging independence and self-confidence. DSPs implement individualized behavior support plans, monitor residents' well-being, and respond appropriately to challenging behaviors using positive intervention techniques. They serve as advocates for the individuals in their care, ensuring their safety, dignity, and quality of life while creating a supportive and respectful environment that promotes personal growth and emotional well-being.
