Senior Probation Officer in Domestic Relations

  • Responsible for administrative reviews of Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA) of those disputing their biannual COLA increases. Duties include gathering the appropriate tax returns and W2 statements, in order to determine whether their income increased more or less than the proposed cost of living percentage according to state guidelines. Also, responsible for the preparation of COLA appeals brought before the Hearing Officer.
  • Judgment Coordinator. Writing and faxing letters Title Companies, attorneys, banks, executors of wills and to clients. Duties include informing them of precisely how much money is to be collected for child support judgments, including post judgment interest when applicable. Applying the money to the case(s) upon posting of the checks.
  • Responsible for administrative reviews of Tax Offset Appeals. Review case and guidelines for Federal Tax Offset Program. Write to the NCP a letter with the results of the review.
  • Responsible for the Medical Only caseload. Update Medical Information of the NCPs. Perform case closure procedures in cases that come up on WRKL for case closure.
  • Credit Bureau Reporting. When CBR appeals cannot be resolved by DFD, they are forwarded to the local office to resolve. Perform whatever duties are required to come up with a resolution. Once the case is resolved, DFD is notified of the outcome of the resolution.
  • Bankruptcy. Track child support NCPs who are in Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 Bankruptcy. Write letters to plaintiff’s along with Proof of Claims and answer questions they may have. Send plaintiffs updated information as it comes in from the Bankruptcy Court and the Trustees.
  • Foreclosures. Forward foreclose information to plaintiffs on behalf of the attorneys representing the NCP in the foreclosure of property.
  • Statistics. Collect and compile the monthly statistics for the team and email them to the Assistant Chief and Supervising Probation Officer.
  • Contacts. I have developed contacts with other Camden Probation Team Leaders, case workers, County Coordinators in other counties, Family Court personnel, people at the AOC and DFD. Assist/ask assistance or work together with these contacts on more complex issues that come up on different aspects of the job.
  • Answer phone calls, mail, email and assist people coming into the office on a wide range of subjects about their child support case(s).
