Working as a babysitter over the past five years has taught me responsibility, leadership, problem-solving, and patience. Babysitting taught me to keep patience while accommodating others' needs, and improved my communication skills from working with people of all ages. It taught me problem-solving from having to react quickly in unexpected situations. Most importantly, I learned what it means to truly be a leader and all of the responsibility that comes with it.
The summer I spent working at OK Charley's Barbeque helped reinforce many skills necessary for work. Working both the cash register and food assembly taught me to multitask while also keeping organized. We constantly had long lines of customers, so I was constantly moving back and forth between tending to customers, restocking food and supplies, and assembling customers' orders. It also taught me good communication and social skills, as it was my job to help customers feel welcome at our shop, so I was constantly between small talk and giving menu recommendations.
