Pharmacy Inventory Specialist

Nebraska Cancer Specialists
04.2021 - 04.2024
  • Earned Lead pharmacy position within 6 months of starting with Nebraska Cancer Specialists by providing quality and organized work. Then promoted to Inventory Specialist after 2 years.
  • Quickly became “go-to” colleague for many day to day operational questions, such as; drug and supply order mentoring, inventory troubleshooting, staff scheduling related issues, admixture preparation procedures, USP 800 and 797 compliance questions and advice on improving workflow.
  • The most rewarding parts of my position are: training new hires to become confident and knowledgeable enabling them to serve our patients like family. Also, helping other departments as they value my professional opinion and creative ideas.
  • I am vigilant about continuing education of new treatments used at our clinics and love to share my knowledge with our other technicians at all 6 locations
  • Earned Supply Chain and Inventory Management and also Hazardous Compounding certifications.

Specialty Pharmacy Technician II

CHI Health Bergan Mercy
06.2019 - 04.2021
  • This position did not end up being what I was hired for but it couldn't have been a better experience!
  • I was hired to submit prior authorizations for specialty medications. Between the time I was hired and the date I started, the authorization technicians were moved out of the pharmacy and into an office at another location. This was due to the acquisition of another pharmacy in a different state.
  • Taking on all the “new” patients and their medications wasn't going to leave much time for the training I needed for the authorization process and responsibilities.
  • I took a suggestion to the lead pharmacist, explaining I felt I would be most helpful in the pharmacy- entering prescriptions, filling orders, inventory and shipping. This would prevent pulling another technician away to train me something completely new.
  • I assured her I was confident in “running a pharmacy” and that become my role.
  • My manager let me run with it! I found myself multitasking all daily pharmacy technician duties plus training the technicians we acquired when buying the out of state pharmacy.
  • I helped create a daily workflow between the pharmacy, the local technician office and the out of state offices to ensure medications were filled and shipped out in a timely manner.
  • I was the back up for our pharmacy's purchasing and shipping coordinator.
  • I absolutely love knowing how to do all aspects of specialty pharmacy.
  • I would have never guessed I'd be a “shipper” and have an opinion on quality cardboard cooler boxes!

  • This position really helped shape my ability to multitask between answering phones, entering prescriptions , filling medications, helping customers, resolving insurance problems and assisting the pharmacists
  • This is also where I first learned to manage unhappy customers
  • I quickly realized I could be helpful to so many people in many different ways
  • I learned it doesn't matter if it's not “your” job
  • If something needs to be done, you jump in and do it!
  • I learned to take pride in all that I do! Success, for me, has been being contacted by previous management and colleagues to join their teams!
