Bennett Magas

Over the course of two summers I volunteered at Discovery Place Science in Uptown Charlotte. My responsibilities the first summer were to repair existing components of the exhibits around the museum and also to build new components. I created a new system to capture birds in the rainforest exhibit which has now been implemented. The second summer I worked the floor of the museum, helping guests and logging in for my shifts.

• Supported guest interactions by providing information on exhibits and activities.
• Participated in training sessions to gain knowledge of safety protocols and exhibit operations.
• Contributed to the maintenance of cleanliness and organization in exhibit areas for optimal visitor experience.

I spent two weeks last summer at the Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute. During my time at PARI, I experienced what it is like to have a career as a astronomer/astrophysicist. I conducted observations using PARI's largest radio telescope to eventually complete a research project.
