Dedicated volunteer with hands on experience in exhibit maintenance and guest interaction at Discovery Place Science. Known for strong problem-solving skills and a positive attitude, committed to enhancing visitor experiences.
Over the course of two summers I volunteered at Discovery Place Science in Uptown Charlotte. My responsibilities the first summer were to repair existing components of the exhibits around the museum and also to build new components. I created a new system to capture birds in the rainforest exhibit which has now been implemented. The second summer I worked the floor of the museum, helping guests and logging in for my shifts.
I spent two weeks last summer at the Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute. During my time at PARI, I experienced what it is like to have a career as a astronomer/astrophysicist. I conducted observations using PARI's largest radio telescope to eventually complete a research project.
Over the course of tournaments that I attended for Science Olympiad, in both middle and high school, I earned a total of 16 medals. 5 being gold medals, which were earned in highly competitive competitions in Georgia and regionally.
