Work History

Sr. System Engineer

General Motors Company
11.2015 - Current
  • Develop new technical specifications for the occupant protection system for General Motors' (GM) first Software Defined Vehicle platform as part of the Crash Event System Control and Command (CESCC) system. (using DNG-Doors Next Generation, and JIRA tool).
  • Lead technical discussions with cross-functional teams to communicate and gather input on new and existing specifications.
  • Create and maintain System Technical Specification (STS) for allocation to subsystems with usage across all programs.
  • Chair Technical Review Board (TRB) for the Feature/System level collaboration among cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Write system-level FEMA failure modes in the Failure Integration Tool (FIT) for allocation and Utilization across all associated subsystem DFMEAs.
  • Defined and planned system and subsystem level tests, analyzed results, detected patterns and trends to prioritize future development, and collaborated with developers to see developed cross-team solutions.
  • Perform vehicle and system-level controls analysis to identify potential safety impacts, develop safety requirements, and support other activities following the GM System Safety Engineering Process.
  • Testing the occupant protection system function using Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) bench with release software (e.g., communication tools such as CANoe, CANalyzer, Vehicle Spy, dSpace, CAN, and LIN.
  • Collaborate with Autonomy development and Cruise teams on the development of new occupant detection features, providing detailed specifications, tests, and results.
  • Reviewed and discussed the Global B (GM’s AUTOSAR) platform rollout to all transceiver suppliers with the new device.
  • Developed and built a new Crash Notification bench for effective system-level testing across multiple vehicle systems, improving vehicle post-crash efficiency and reducing production costs.
  • Led full breadboarding and software flash programming for the IVER (Integration Vehicle Engineering Release) Global B and Cruise/Autonomous programs.
  • Planned in detail and led to support the Service Programming System (SPS) team with the Development Programming System (DPS) tools developed through the challenges on CAN, CAN-FD, and Ethernet.
  • Led to get all archive files from all DREs (CAN1, CAN2, CAN3, CAN4, CAN5, and CAN8) suitable for Global B flash programming for ZERV and V2xx breadboard 128 -131 S/W delivery.

Sr. Telematics Engineer

Hyundai-Kia America Technical Center
08.2012 - 11.2015
  • Led development of bench and vehicle-level testing and launch of the first embedded modem telematics system that contributes to LTE antenna signal and Telematics feature improvement for Hyundai and Kia North American Vehicles.
  • Created a comprehensive vehicle-to-cloud connectivity testing procedure that included corner cases for bench and in-vehicle validation on Telematics Control Units (TCU) for Hyundai/ Kia programs.
  • Identified numerous hardware, software, server, and vehicle-level issues during the Design Validation (DV) testing cycle.
  • Analyzed discovered issues found daily and worked with tier-1 suppliers to develop correction release schedules that are compatible with the program timeline.
  • Worked closely with different organizations to fully understand vehicle communication interfaces and translate them into component requirements for successful connected car development.
  • Conducted a vehicle-to-cloud connectivity design review of a requirement development system, component specifications, analysis, verification, and validation tools.
  • Performed field validation tests and reported on Short Message Service (SMS) performance, download, and upload throughput, as well as Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and packet data issues under different conditions, including handoffs.
  • Initiated and led a team of validation engineers to conduct and implement test procedures and regression tests.

Electrical System Engineer

Ford Motor Company
03.2001 - 08.2012
  • Led the full functional bench and vehicle-level functional testing scope, schedule, and integrated bench deployment according to specified test requirements for simulator I/O, instrumentation, development, and validation sign-off.
  • Developed the feature topology that defines the electrical electronics integration, power distributions, network, and gateway sub-systems.
  • Led the Technical Design Review (TDR) of all Interface Control Documents (ICD) and logical schematic sign-off with component Engineers.
  • Evaluated the power rating of all fuses for the power at all times (PAAT) circuits and completed the electrical logic schematics for Lincoln MKX/ Ford Edge (U38X) and Lincoln MKS/ Ford Taurus (CD4.3) vehicle programs.
  • Identified numerous undetected hardware & software electronic subsystem design validation issues during the product DV testing cycle.
  • Developed a new instrument panel re-flash tool at an auto modular supplier to test I/P modules for electrical integrity and functionality.
  • Led new software re-flashing, re-configuration, and diagnostic trouble code (DTC) clearing tasks of VOCF vehicles using the vehicle network communication tool PUMA.
  • Led the electrical repair team in identifying, diagnosing, and resolving complex electrical issues.
  • Identified the root cause and resolution of an engine stall condition at vehicle dynamics during the final development vehicle evaluation.
  • Performed the creation of the bill of material (BOM), design failure mode analysis (DFMA), design validation planning (DVP), electromagnetic compatibility analysis, and build of electrical breadboards before the final development vehicle build event.
  • Recommended and implemented the material cost reduction (MCR) ideas, which generated about $2.9 million in cost savings annually.

Electrical Design Engineer

TRW Automotive
07.1998 - 03.2001
  • Created the Bill of Materials (BOM) and electronic circuit schematics for the Restraint Control Module (RCM).
  • Conducted Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design layout and troubleshot design issues using a multi-function meter and oscilloscope.
  • Performed design trade analysis, design capability analysis, worst-case analysis, and failure mode and effects analysis of electronic circuits.
  • Conducted electromagnetic interference and compatibility (EMI/EMC) tests on safety electronics modules using a frequency spectrum analyzer.
