As part of a collaborative team of public servants, an Inspector V protects individuals’ health and safety by conducting on-site residential surveys, monitoring, and investigations of Home and Community-Based Services (HCS) Medicaid program providers to assess their compliance with state and federal laws and rules. These include investigations into allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. There is
regular travel to different program providers with a team within a region and across the state. In this front-line field position, a Inspector V is mobile and flexible and performs work at an office, though the role does require writing reports detailing deficiencies/violations against a provider, remedies to correct those deficiencies, and narrative to support regulatory determinations.
The Inspector provides feedback on performance and development as well as participates in and facilitates department and provider meetings for projects. There are daily multiple tasks within a project to be completed where detail and time is to be attended to.
An investigator responds quickly in crisis situations involving children who may be in an abusive or neglectful situation. They conduct forensic investigations of reports of abuse/neglect to children to determine if abuse or neglect occurred and conducts assessments to determine the current or future risk of harm to children. They conduct interviews with people in the case such as the parents, caregivers, person who reports the concern, family members, medical staff, teachers, and law enforcement. They determine the action to be taken to remove or to reduce an immediate threat to the safety of a child.
They document all relevant and appropriate information gathered during the investigation or project and completes all required forms accurately and in a timely manner. They develop and maintain effective working relationships with law enforcement officials, judicial officials, legal resources, medical professionals, and other stakeholders in the community. They are under constant deadlines that require prioritizing tasks and the ability to work flexible hours. They attend and participate in training/meetings/staffing's based on the specific task
