•Conduct assessments of youths to determine whether they're in need of assistance or disciplinary measures.
•Serves as the initial point of contact for new and returning detainees at the County's Juvenile Detention Center.
•Coordinates and performs a variety of intake functions including gathering and inputting personal, demographic,referral,and offense information into the Department's juvenile tracking system.
•Notifies parents/guardians regarding juvenile placement and/or location of facility.
•Supervises incarcerated youth to ensure the safety of the facility, corrections staff and Youthful Offenders to include the prevention of altercations, intimidation and other undesirable or illegal acts.
•Work in Master Control Sub room taking inbound calls transferring the correct department
•Maintains accurate count and current location of all Youthful Offenders assigned.
•Completes and maintains required records, logs and reports.
•Performs cell and body searches as required..
•Ensures safe, secure and orderly movement of youth throughout the facility.
•Performs security and safety checks and adheres to facility security procedures.
•Ensures, to the limit of authority possible, that youth offender rights are observed-and that they are treated according to policy.
