A recent graduate nurse with specialized training from my capstone clinical rotation in the cardiac care unit, I am eager to apply my solid foundation in nursing practice to an intensive care unit (ICU) setting. Throughout my academic journey and clinical rotations, I honed my skills in critical care principles and adeptly managed complex medical situations. Assists patients with activities of daily living, uses proper body mechanics and equipment when moving or transferring patients, and maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families per hospital standards. Restock the unit frequently with necessary medical supplies.
• Stony Brook University Hospital, Medical Surgical, Stony Brook, NY, Nurse Intern, 05/2023, 08/2023, Administered medication correctly and safely in terms of action, dosage, side effects, and implications for the patient, and documented and educated patients and their families about drug and food interactions. Participated in patient and family education, provided explanations of the patient's condition as necessary, communicated assessment data to the care team and relevant agencies, recognized and utilized health teaching opportunities and resources, planned for early discharge and appropriate referrals for post-hospital care, and evaluated the effectiveness of teaching by obtaining feedback from the patient and family and documenting it.
