Responsible for the real-time coordination and management of Amtrak's equipment fleet of cars and locomotives. Manage the day to day make-up of passenger trains in Washington Terminal as well as the Coach Yard and Ivy City to ensure both passenger trains are built and Mechanical facilities are filled out according to specifications. Provide specific instructions to yard facilities in the manipulation of cars and locomotives to ensure the maintenance schedules of the mechanical department are met and all equipment remains compliant with federal regulations. Coordinate and lead the Amtrak Experience Tour for all new hire managers along with Human Resources. Responsible for the coordination of all special train movement in and out of Washington Terminal. Coordinate all engineering outages within Washington Terminal to ensure the safe and efficient operation of trains and to ensure that infrastructure is up to FRA requirement. Managing Train Directors and Assistant Train Directors, Yardmasters, Crew Dispatchers and Senior Space and Equipment Analysts to see that all goals are accomplished timely and efficient. Temporarily filling in as MTO in Amtrak's Consolidated National Operations Center (CNOC), overseeing all Train Dispatchers from Washington, DC to Philadelphia, PA as well as Harrisburg, PA to Philadelphia, PA. Work on rule revisions and work with operating practices on procedures and or rules that may need to be changed or re-written. Coordinate with Crew Management Services to ensure all vacant T&E yard jobs are filled. Fill in as needed for Trainmaster's and Road Foreman. Provide management support and direction in the absence of the Assistant Superintendent.
Supervise the safe and efficient make-up of revenue, non revenue and special trains. Control movement of trains throughout Amtrak's Coach and Ivy City Yards. Ensure that trains are made up properly and cars are placed in correct order to comply with FDA and ADA restrictions. Ensure that rail cars get proper preventive maintenance and shop cars are repaired and replaced with serviced cars. Ensurer that VRE's are stored properly for service. Coordinate movement of motors and diesel moves to and from servicing tracks. Work with engineering department to ensure the safe and efficient movement of trains.
