I have experience in the public, private, and non-profit sectors.
In the public sector, I have been a Census Field Supervisor. In the 2020 Decennial Census, I worked primarily leading my group of enumerators in the non-response follow-up. I was lucky to have a very good team of enumerators that were self-starting, quick to learn, and public-minded. When asked the question "why do you want to be an enumerator?', the answer I remember getting must often was "because I want to make sure it is done well". I also scheduled enumeration appointments for group settings.
I also do work as an Election Judge for the City of Minneapolis. My title is Poll Book Supervisor. In that role I make sure that the team of election judges in a precinct are properly identifying and registering voters, and impartially communicating information about the contents of the ballot.
In the non-profit sector I have served on a number of Boards. I was the Chair of EHFNA (the East Harriet Farmstead Neighborhood Association in Minneapolis, population about 4000 in the neighborhood). I managed a budget, a paid staff of one, and kept our organization in compliance with the City of Minneapolis' rules (as an organization which received tax-increment finance funds). I facilitated discussions with developers and concerned residents about new construction projects. EHFNA collaborated with the Minneapolis Park Board to construct an addition to our neighborhood park rec center, with EHFNA providing most of the funds.
Also in the non-profit sector, I chaired the SW Service Area Master Plan Community Advisory Committee for the Minneapolis Park Board. We were an appointed body of 20 members tasked with making a Master Plan recommendation to the Minneapolis Park Board guiding its capital investments in neighborhood parks for the next 20 years. We were able to balance input from varied stakeholders to make a unanimous recommendation for an area that has the greatest economic, ethnic, and philosophical diversity in the city.
In the private sector, I work for a division of Amazon that was called PrimeNow, but has now been folded into the acquisition of Whole Foods. I have trained new hires, communicated expectations, and resolved conflicts. If there are specific questions about my tasks at Amazon, I can answer them pending review of my non-disclosure agreement I signed when I joined the company.
Additionally, I was a Production Manager at Taylor Corp. I trained and lead a team in the printing and packaging part of the business. There were 20 or so employees for whom I was responsible.
Managed workflow. Streamlined processes for greater efficiencies.
Scheduled appointments for in-person enumeration of co-living facilities (Group Homes, Long-Term Hospital Care Facilities, Nursing Homes, Shelters, etc). Trained, managed, and developed enumerators for the 2020 Decennial Census. Ensured cases were assigned daily to my enumerators who were scheduled to work. Managed twenty and more enumerators over a dispersed area. Ensured that enumerators were kept up to date with supplies and changing expectations during the 2020 Census. Trained new enumerators in person and remotely by phone. Helped enumerators gain entry to apartment buildings, residence halls, gated communities, etc. Worked primarily with my team of enumerators in SW Minneapolis, then managed them as they worked in other areas of Hennepin County, then Greater Minnesota. Authorized their payroll on a daily basis. Worked with enumerators to address "alerts": retraining when necessary. I communicated with my Census Field Manager to have interpreters assigned when concentrations of Somali and Spanish speakers were found residing in newly constructed multi-unit housing by my enumerators.
Led team of 20 production/packaging/shipping employees. The team grew with the addition of seasonal help in our busy season. Communicated expectations, coached to exceed expectations.
