I supervise children during both their open play and classroom learning times. This can include joining in their play while letting them lead and direct the games. The Vincent House wants volunteers to focus on consistency, for the stake of the children, which looks like committing to showing up not just once and a while but on a weekly basis in order to form better relationships with the children. During enrichments times the main goal is the model the behavior we want from the children which most of the time means active participation, but volunteers also can be expected to lead small groups of the children during times of disorganization.
