List of Duties Performed:

  • Inspected grounds daily to identify potential hazards or damages caused by weather or vandalism.
  • Performed maintenance tasks such as cleaning and maintaining public bathrooms, mowing grass, weed eating, pruning trees and shrubs, removing trees that may pose potential hazards, planting saplings to ensure a healthy and vibrant future for the parks, watering plants, raking leaves, picking up litter, changing trash receptacles, maintaining soccer, softball/baseball fields, tackle and flag football fields, extensive knowledge in navigating the Turf Tank field line painting robot, managing invasive and undesired vegetation within the parks and right-of-ways, and maintaining a Class B CDL commercial driver's license.
  • Collaborated with the Carbondale Civic Center Manager to reserve camping spaces in Evergreen Park for the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse.
  • Managed reservations for pavilions, shelters or other areas within assigned parks.
  • Provided customer service assistance when necessary; addressed complaints concerning park operations promptly.
  • Worked alongside the Forestry Department in assisting with the maintenance of city trees and grounds. Duties included operating chainsaws, pole pruners, wood chippers, stump grinders, loading and unloading brush and debris, and operating large vehicles, including air brake-equipped dump trucks, skid loaders, and tractors.
