Navy and Marine Achievement Medal in Lieu of Second Award,Good Conduct Medal in Lieu of Fourth Award

Awarded to members of the Navy and Marine Corps for service. The award given for achievement in a combat or noncombat situation based on sustained performance or specific achievement of a superlative nature.

(1) Leadership Achievement which merits the award must: Clearly exceed that which is normally required or expected, considering the individuals grade or rate, training, and experience; and Be noteworthy; demonstrate a high state of development or, if for a specific achievement, be of such merit as to earn singular recognition for the act(s); and Reflect most creditably on the efforts of the individual toward the accomplishment of the unit mission.


Good Conduct Medal: It is awarded to each Marine every three years as long as they uphold the standards and regulations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice and does not receive any Non-Judicial Punishments within those three years. The medal is awarded for obedience, sobriety, military proficiency, neatness and intelligence during three years of continuous active service.
