Medical Assistant and Lead Phlebotomist with experience in direct patient care, specimen collection, and clinical procedures. Passionate about healthcare and committed to building both clinical knowledge and laboratory skills needed to further my education.

I completed an extremely hands-on pathology shadowing experience and laboratory training under a histotechnician/Mohs supervisor at Sharp Healthcare, San Diego. I measured, inked, oriented, embedded, and sectioned pig skin. I utilized a microtome to section tissue specimens, mount them on slides, stain them, and examine them microscopically. I observed a pathologist evaluate both benign and malignant tissue samples. He pointed out the features and cellular changes he looks for when determining whether a specimen is malignant. I will be returning to shadow and learn more techniques from the histotechnician and pathologist.
