Previous Elementary School Tutor at Arlington Elementary School, I leveraged patience, empathy, and creative thinking to enhance student participation and confidence, achieving notable progress in reading comprehension. Skilled in positive reinforcement and student motivation, I also contributed to juvenile offender rehabilitation, focusing on decision-making skills and establishing impactful relationships.
For this job specifically some students from the university I went to would group together and go to one of the juvenile detention centers that were in Jacksonville. When we would go we would try to build a connection with the juvenile’s to actually get to know them and maybe see why they do certain acts that got them to point they were at. Basically, every time we would go see the kids at the juvenile center we would do a different activity with them to get them to open up about themselves, see what they can change about themselves to be a better person, it allowed them to see that there is another way you can live life, & it showed them that being bad/committing crimes isn’t going to help you get where you really want to be in life. The days that we would go to help, we made sure the juvenile’s wrote down & kept their papers so that they could always remember to look at them.
