Perform immigration enforcement duties involving the identification, investigation, arrest, processing, transportation, and custody of individuals subject to enforcement under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA). Screen individuals housed in local and regional correctional facilities to determine immigration status and identify potential violations of federal immigration law. Conduct in-person and telephone interviews, review records and agency databases, and coordinate with local law enforcement agencies regarding individuals in their custody. Prepare and issue immigration detainers and warrants of arrest when appropriate.
Conduct at-large enforcement operations, including surveillance, intelligence gathering, investigative research, and the apprehension of targeted individuals. Utilize open-source information and law enforcement databases to develop leads, locate persons of interest, and support enforcement actions. Arrange and conduct transportation of individuals to and from immigration custody while maintaining officer and public safety.
Work closely with local, state, and federal law enforcement partners during joint operations and investigations. Have experience working alongside the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force (UCMC), coordinating with task-force personnel and partner agencies in support of joint law enforcement operations.
Attended the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) and successfully completed the Basic Immigration Enforcement Training Program (BIETP). Also completed the Advanced Field Operations Training Program, receiving additional training in immigration enforcement, officer safety, field operations, investigative techniques, surveillance, arrest procedures, and other law enforcement functions.
Completed multiple temporary duty (TDY) assignments supporting large-scale federal enforcement operations, including a 45-day TDY in support of SPM/Operation Metro Surge and a 14-day TDY assignment in New York City.
