Supported NASA JPL Mission Assurance Support Services (MASS) Contract, providing specialized technical engineering services for all JPL in-house projects and missions. These services included supporting Type 1 projects, e.g., Psyche, Europa Clipper, M2020 Testbed and Type 2 projects, e.g., CAL, PREFIRE, SunRISE, CPM, CADRE
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Inspection Report Auditor for Inspection Group
- Review/approve manufacturing, assembly and test documentation(flow plans, routers, assembly/test procedures, build books, inspection reports, discrepancy reports, waivers, certifications) used in fabrication of QCI hardware to ensure traceability, completeness and the sign-offs are accordance with the sub-contract or JPL internal requirements
- Ensure released drawings are under configuration control for the build of Flight and/or QCI hardware using institutional CM tools
- Assure mandatory inspection points are defined for QCI hardware.
- Witness and/or inspect build of hardware. This includes assembly of mechanical and electrical(PWA, cables) hardware thru torquing, bonding, solder (J-STD001FS), proof testing and lifting operations, safe-to-mate, power on,
- Document non-conformances, anomalies, shipping/receiving inspections, final acceptance and provide traceability on Flight and/or QCI hardware on Inspection Reports
- Review test procedures, set-ups, and perform pre and post-test inspection of QCI hardware GSE
- Witness and monitor all environmental testing (Vibrational, Thermal Vacuum, EMI/EMC) of QCI hardware as a unit, or as an element of a larger assembly according to written, approved procedures and identify measures of protection related to the safety of the unit and personnel
- Conduct post-test inspection to determine if QCI hardware has been compromised
- Ensure personnel handling, building or testing of QCI hardware is trained and certified to standards approved by QA organization
- Surveil floor activities and ensure compliance with ESD control requirements
- Participate in Delivery Reviews (Hardware Review and Certification Record and Support Equipment Certification Record for Flight hardware and Ground Support Equipment to ATLO and Customer)
- Participate in Facility Safety Surveys and Occupational Safety Surveys by identifying risks and ensuring closures of action items
- Escort QCI hardware from within JPL campus
- Source inspections at vendor facilities
- Delivery of hardware to customers
