Projects

  • SAE Model Airplane: Collaborated on the design, fabrication, and assembly of a model aircraft in accordance with SAE competition requirements. Manufactured structural components using CNC machining, including machine setup, tool selection, and independent operation, while ensuring precision and consistency. Contributed to airframe construction with an emphasis on structural integrity and weight reduction to improve overall performance. Assisted in integrating electronic systems with mechanical components to achieve reliable power delivery and stable flight. Participated in testing and validation to ensure successful takeoff and flight performance, culminating in competition against other universities in a regional SAE event.
  • Created a remote control lazer tag robot: As part of a student engineering project, I contributed to the design, construction, and programming of a remote-controlled laser tag robot. Using SolidWorks, I helped design a 3D-printable chassis that met strict dimensional constraints. I programmed an Arduino Mega to control motor functions, laser firing, IR hit detection, and LED indicators to display the robot’s remaining lives. Additionally, I assisted with circuit assembly, soldering components, and integrating radio control systems. Throughout the project, I worked collaboratively with a team, taking responsibility for tasks such as CAD design, coding, and ensuring safety and performance standards were met. At the end of the semester, our team’s robot competed in a tournament, and we placed first, demonstrating the success of our design and programming efforts.
  • Data analysis: our team collected outdoor temperature data using both glass-tube and digital thermometers to conduct statistical analysis. The objective was to assess measurement accuracy, compare the results from each thermometer, and determine how well the data fits a Gaussian distribution. Using MATLAB, we performed calculations, created plots, and visualized the data to better understand the statistical properties. Team members were responsible for specific tasks such as data collection, MATLAB analysis, and contributing to the overall report, ensuring a comprehensive and well-rounded final presentation.
