PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Utilizes approved screening procedures to evaluates patient's level of care and recommends observation or inpatient status.
2. Manages the initial admission process through all emergency rooms including free standing EDs associated with Henry Ford Health System,
a. Clarify orders with ED physicians and mid-level providers to ensure appropriate placement of patients.
b. Provides medical review to Physician Advisors using InterQual criteria, for determination of level of care when review is different from the ER provider's orders.
c. Notifies insurance provider of admission according to One Henry insurance grid.
3. Reevaluates ED admissions who have been boarding in the Emergency Department for 18 or more hours to assess potential changes in level of care. Facilitates change
in order and retargeting of most appropriate unit based on medical criteria.
5. Completes documentation according to departmental guidelines.
6. Identifies, reports and resolves actual and potential delays in service and inappropriate use of resources.
7. Identifies the most appropriate target unit for patients based on hospital guidelines, admission order, and patient presentation. Communicates with Transfer and Bed Planning teams regarding target unit needs and bed assignments.
9. Understands and maintains productivity expectations.
10.Educates healthcare professionals regarding initial screening criteria, recommended patient level of care status, utilization of resources and government regulations that impact the delivery of care.
11.Supports and collaborates with clinicians to ensure safe and timely transfers.
12.Participates in the orientation and training of on-boarding SC3 staff.
13.Participates in activities to promote own continued learning and professional growth.

organizational goals.
