As a QEW Inspector at Pro Energy, I inspected contract line crews, making sure they follow safety and building standards according to the utility they are contracted to.
I also spent a lot of time working at temporary generator sites, over seeing safety of the sites and employees working within them. Some of my duties include; monitoring generators, being in close contact with dispatch, strategizing with troublemen and substation wiremen, organizing and working with the sometimes numerous contractors at the site to help make the operation run smoothly and safely. Usually working 7/12s for long periods of time.
Currently I am performing standby duties in San Francisco monitoring civil contractors as they dig near PG&E's underground transmission lines. My purpose is to make sure they maintain the proper safe distance from the 115 and 230kv lines as well as work closely with the contractor to help come up with solutions so the contractor can get their job done and not disturb PG&Es Transmission infinfrastructure.
As a Troubleman at Puget Sound Energy, my job was to be on call 24/7 to respond to power outages, emergencies, and safety hazards. My duties included,
-Problem solving and troubleshooting
-Assessing hazards and damage
-Switching and tagging
-Strategizing with dispatch and system operator
-Patrolling lines
-Map and print reading
-Clearing trees from lines
-Energized line work and repair
-Switching around faults overhead , underground, transmission and distribution
-Underground locating, fault finding, testing and repair
-Storm restoration
-Operating reclosers, ,sectionalizers, switchgear, transmission Switches etc.
-Directing line crews on scope of work, hazards and status, material lists etc.
-Writing reports
-Working long hours, nights, holidays, weekends
As a Lineman at Tacoma Power, my role was to be competent in all phases of line work. Construction and maintenance of all underground, overhead, transmission and distribution systems. At this utility I was an apprentice, Lineman, Then Foreman Over the span of twelve years. My duties included;
-Pole and tower climbing
-Energized work using hot line techniques (hot stick state)
-Setting poles, building towers and various other structures
-Building and operating system protection equipment, transformer banks and regulators
-Heavy equipment operation

-Locating, fault finding and testing of underground cables and equipment
