Work History

Rock Hill Cemetery Project

Volunteer Work
Wilmington, NC
10.2024 - Current
  • I worked with the volunteer committee for the preservation of the Rock Hill Cemetery plot. My position with the committee consisted of compiling death certificates and other historical records, in an effort to identify enslaved people whose burials would function to prove the land as historically significant, and therefore prevent the land from being bought by a construction company and turned into a walking trail for a housing development.

The Lower Cape Fear Historical Society

Dr. Ginger Davis
Wilmington, NC
08.2024 - 12.2024
  • During the time I interned at The Lower Cape Fear Historical Society/The Latimer House, I learned how to conduct the succession of material into a historical archive, as well as the day-to-day workings of a house museum. Throughout my internship, I utilized the archive to access information for a research project that culminated in writing a paper about a woman who was, at one point, a boarder in the home.

Oral History Transcription

Dr. Tara White
  • I worked with my professor of Public History, Dr. Tara White, to transcribe oral history interviews she had conducted in 2014 with participants of the Selma to Montgomery March, otherwise known as Bloody Sunday. The transcribed interview and time index will be integrated into the National Park Service archive and used in an exhibition for the Selma Interpretive Center.
