I would start by screening for eligibility of Medicare as well as Medicare Savings Programs. I assisted with new enrollment and changes in enrollment of Medicare plans, as well as advised when and where clients could enroll and make changed in their current plans. A part of this included helping navigate the Medicare.gov website and advising how Medicare works with other insurance plans. If a client was eligible for a Medicare Savings Program I would also assist with educating them on their premiums and low income subsidy to help with medicare prescription premiums and medication costs. I could not do this alone so I also trained and oversaw 10 + volunteers in 6 different counties across Wyoming. I would travel to these 6 counties and provide educational presentations to community partners, organizations, and employees. I also made sure to attend every annual to keep up to date on any updates or changes about Medicare.
As the Senior Medicare Patrol Coordinator I helped clients with their Medicare and Medicaid claim handling and billing questions, as well as reporting any potential fraud to the office of inspector general and the centers for Medicare and Medicaid services
