I chose to go into healthcare at an early age because of my mom, who was a nurse growing up. When I saw the bond she had with her clients, it made me realize I wanted to be a nurse/caregiver. I believe God has a plan for all of us and my plan was to work with the elderly, making them feel more appreciated in this world. There are many people out there that need special assistance in their daily life but also attention. They need to feel loved and cared for, which is the reason I chose to be a caregiver. I want to put a smile on my client's face everyday, knowing when I leave them at the end of my shift they are comfortable, happy and know there are people out there that truly care. In my profession, I have seen many caregivers who do not give these clients the attention they deserve. It is all about interaction. These people need help and want to feel like they mean something, like they exist and aren't just an inconvenience. I take pleasure in giving them that. I take pride in what I do and knowing I am making a difference is the best reward anyone could ask for.
