Scuba Diving is my passion. I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of diving, but if I could only dive one type of environment it would be deep in the caves. I appreciate the darkness, quiet, and meditative aspects of it. I compare it to going on a an advanced hike, but underwater. With proper training and equipment it can be very safe and enjoyable. You get to visit parts of the world only a few people get to experience. I cave dive with my Closed Circuit Rebreather which is a piece of gear used for deep or extended range diving that recycles the gas you are breathing to extend your time underwater. They are complicated machines that require tedious maintenance, record keeping and a checklist required for anytime you get into the water. These advanced level dives have taught me a lot about staying calm under pressure, and how necessary it is to maintain your composure to rely on your training.
I also enjoy gas blending, which in my case, is the process of blending Oxygen, Nitrogen, and Helium to create the best gas mix for my dives. This requires critical attention to detail as you can make hypoxic, and hyperoxic mixtures of gas that can affect you different ways under pressure.
