  • Over the last 20 years my skills have continued to be refined and expanded. I have taken my experiences to effectively set the standard in the Midwest in Child Nutrition programs through innovative program development and constantly improve operations efficiencies while exceeding customer expectations.
  • Managed a $10.6 million-dollar annual budget. The school district encompasses 21 elementary schools, 9 middle schools, and 6 high schools with full operational kitchens and a total enrollment of 22,000 students. Full oversight of hiring and employee engagement of 150 staff. Responsibilities include short- and long-term strategic planning, staff training, budgeting and finance management, technology upgrades, menu planning, food and supply bidding, Kitchen remodel and design, equipment bidding and maintenance oversight, board updates and continual communication with building administrators. Proactively and openly seeking feedback from employees, parents, students, community leaders and administrators has contributed to improving our programs and creating a positive inclusive environment. Operations oversight include Breakfast, Lunch, Ala Carte, and Catering.
  • Achievements:
  • Increased program sales by 2.2 million
  • Maintained a self-supporting positive fund balance for 20 years while contributing to the district general balance
  • Mentored our department Dietitian to become a successful Child Nutrition Director
  • Manage all aspects of department budgeting for food, supply and equipment bidding
  • Received 6 full state comprehensive program reviews with excellent results
  • Designed and managed complete kitchen remodels of 4 schools
  • Designed and managed 8 new school kitchen builds
  • Bid and purchased 7 million in equipment replacement.
  • Replaced both Point and Sale and Menu Planning software
  • Fully immersed in the menu planning and new recipe development
  • Expanded from 7 schools to now 37 school breakfast programs
  • Full oversight of managing all aspects of kitchen equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Implemented a district wide signage program
  • Created a partnership with Harvester, Community Food Network for bi-weekly pick up of leftover food items to serve the needy in the Kansas City Metro. The only outreach to this level with a school district.
  • The only school district in the Kansas Metro with A grade in the K-12 Niche public school rankings for food.

  • I learned invaluable skills during my career with Sodexho Management Services. Sodexho prides itself in providing high quality and innovative programs that foster high customer satisfaction. In nine years of employment my responsibilities steadily increased to become the strong leader and mentor for colleagues and an accomplished Director for Napa Valley Unified School District.
  • Achievements:
  • Increased revenue by $610,000 in three years
  • Returned $310,000 to the fund balance
  • In one year successfully lowered Food Cost by $50,000 while serving 142,000 more meals
  • Trained two Assistant Directors to become successful Directors
  • Coordinated two A to Z nutrition fairs for elementary students. The center piece to the event enables students to try a fruit or vegetable for each letter in the alphabet
  • I have created strong partnerships with the American Cancer Society, Napa Weight Coalition, Napa County Farm Bureau, and High School Future Farmers of America students in an effort to educate elementary students about the important relationship between nutrition, fitness and agriculture.
  • Designed and implemented After school snack programs for Child Care and At-Risk Intervention
  • Designed and coordinated all aspects of two new middle school kitchens.
