For my first year at Missoula Bone and Joint i was in reception/scheduling. These job duties included:
- Scheduled appointments for patients, ensuring timely follow-up on referrals from other providers.
- Provided support to physicians in the form of appointment scheduling, answering phones, verifying insurance coverage and handling other administrative duties as needed.
- Prepared charts for new patients, ensuring all necessary forms were completed correctly.
- Verified insurance coverage for appointments and collected co-payments as required.
- Greeted and checked in patients, updating patient information in computer system.
My second year at Missoula Bone and joint through current i have been a Medical Records Assistance.
- Retrieve and distributed patient medical records as requested by physicians or other healthcare personnel.
- Verify accuracy of medical documentation prior to entering into computer systems.
- Answer phone inquiries from patients regarding their medical records.
- Scan paper documents into electronic health record systems according to established protocols.
- Organize physical files, stored them appropriately, and disposed of outdated documents per HIPAA guidelines.
- Perform data entry tasks related to patient demographics, insurance information, physician orders.
- Assist in training new staff members on proper use of the Electronic Health Record System.
- Comply with federal laws and regulations related to privacy practices including HIPAA guidelines.
- Processed incoming and outgoing faxes and mail.
- Use several Microsoft Office programs including: Outlook, Teams , Excell, and Word.
Compiled statistical reports from medical records to assist with quality assurance reviews.
